    आलम ने धर्मांतरित होने के बाद एक सीधे सपाट बयान में कहा, ‘ वैश्विक स्तर पर इस्लामी अतिवाद और आतंकवाद का जो स्वरूप दिखाई पड रहा है उस बुराई का मूल कारण इस्लाम में ही अंतर्निहित है जो कि शारीरिक रूप से हिंसक और ऐतिहासिक रूप से संघर्षात्मक है '। दूसरे शब्दों में समस्या केवल इस्लामवाद नहीं वरन स्वयं इस्लाम ही है। एक और टिप्पणीकार स्पेंगलर ने एशिया टाइम्स में इससे भी आगे बढकर कहा, ‘ आलम मुस्लिम जीवन के लिये एक खतरा भी उत्पन्न करते हैं क्योंकि अपने धर्म के पूर्व अनुयायियों की भाँति वे भी आधुनिक पश्चिम की स्तरहीन संस्कृति को अस्वीकर करते हैं और उन्हें कुछ दूसरा उपलब्ध कराते हैं एक ऐसा धर्म जो कि प्रेम पर आधारित है”।
